I wanted to take this opportunity to send some love and appreciation to the fearless, hardworking Mom, Nikki Bullock who made national news after a video of her bravely confronting “gun-toting suburban [biker] Cody Heron, 26, who has been charged with possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person and aggravated assault” (3ABC, Philly) for violently kicked in the back of her windshield with total disregard for her two small children sitting in the back.

Luckily, no one suffered any serious injuries, but the trauma from this senseless and vicious attack will probably have long-term effects on Ms. Bullock, her two children, and her partner who was also in the car during the incident.

Ms. Bullock didn’t expect the attention or the outpouring of love and support when she instinctively defended her family against a violent attacker while other bikers and bystanders chose to look and film the attack instead of intervening.

The viral video didn’t show it — but The City of Brotherly love earned its titled and Good Neighbor Alert as many people reached out to help Ms. Bullock and her family. I’m sending love and appreciation to everyone who stepped up to right this wrong including North Philly business owners Otto from Ottos Glass Repair and Thomas Montgomery, Jr. from Wiz Café who fixed Ms. Bullock’s broken window and treated her and her family to a hot and delicious meal while her car was being repaired.

This is what being a good neighbor is all about. This is how men in our community should act and react when women and children are in harm’s way. This is the Philly I know and these are the people who show love and compassion as a core value and guiding principle.

So once again,

Otto, Owner of Otto’s Glass — See contact info below

Thomas Montgomery, Jr. the owner of Wiz Café

3622 N 17th St, Philadelphia, PA 19140

Thank you for being a great and good neighbor. The women and children of Philadelphia thank and appreciate you and the whole city salutes you!

Please support these small businesses.

Oh and to the parents and communities that raised the boys and men who stood by or filmed this family being bullied and terrorized or know that their troubled children come to our beloved City to commit crimes — please stop upholding them in their wrong.
