US Housing Fraud Alert: Beware of Section 8 Housing Voucher Scams and Fake Open Waitlist Flyers

The Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA), The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and other government housing agencies have issued fraud alerts and scam warnings for fake open waitlist flyers and waitlist help scam sites.

PHA’s Housing Voucher site says:

Please note: PHA Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist is not open. We are aware of a flyer that is currently going around that says the program is accepting applicants, but this flyer is not correct. Please ignore it. PHA’s Section 8/HCV Waitlist is currently closed and not accepting applicants at this time.

I couldn’t find the flyer posted on a local resource page, but Pennlive shared an image of a similar one from a fraudulent Facebook group.
