Freedom Day menus, live and virtual celebrations
In case you didn’t know Juneteenth (June 19th) aka Freedom Day is now a national holiday and becoming another food-focused celebration and I’m all for it!
I originally wrote this article in 2022 — but I thought it needed an update because Philly has some great food and Juneteenth celebrations.
I’m not from Texas, where the celebration originated, but the common thread woven in all Freedom Celebrations is soul food. If you’d prefer to stay home, here are some ideas to help you start or refresh your Juneteenth menu.
