Hey Philly and the rest of world -

Philly’s legendary Uptown Theatre’s Entertainment & Development Corp hosted a 3-Part poetry workshop for Poetry Month from April 7–24, 2025.

The virtual, intergenerational workshops were open to the community and had tweens, teens and Moms and few people in between.

The participants learned about the various types of poetry, the writing and reading elements of poetry. The last class was a practice and recorded poetry reading session.

Youth will be paid a small stipend from a City grant for thier participation and they will be featured on Uptown’s community radio station.

If you’d like to hear the poems, check out WJYN 98.5 Uptown Community radio station. I will post the link to the reading soon.

In the meantime, check out and support Uptown’s other community programs.

Special thank you to Jacob’s Northwest for graciously offering to host our Thoughtful Thursday reading.
