Philadelphia — Rachel King, the beautiful and beloved mother and educator’s cold-blooded and mysterious murder was solved this week. Local and national news outlets covered this heartbreaking story on April 11, 2023.

In my original story and plea to find Ms. King’s killer, the District Attorney (DA) told ABC6 that, “[a] driver parked a short distance away from the drive-thru, walked up to the driver’s side of King’s vehicle, and fired multiple shots through the window, officials say. Rachel’s 11-year-old son was in the backseat.” (McCormick,2023)

Zakkee Steven Alhakim and Julie Jean, 6ABC

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Sharifa Jackson from 6ABC news reported that “Zakkee Steven Alhakim, 33, of Philadelphia, and Julie Jean, 34, of Elkins Park, were both charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Rachel King”.

The disturbing details surrounding Rachels’ senseless murder were outlined in Ms. Jackson’s live and written report on 6ABC.com:

During a press conference on Wednesday, authorities say Alhakim and Jean planned and conspired to murder King, who was the longtime girlfriend of William Hayes.

According to investigators, Jean and Hayes had an affair last year, and after Hayes broke it off, Jean continued to text, call and harass both King and Hayes, prompting Hayes to obtain a Protection From Abuse Order against Jean.

On the day of the murder, Alhakim allegedly parked a Mercury Sable a short distance away, then walked to the driver’s side of King’s Ford Edge and shot her multiple times.

Investigators say Alhakim obtained the Mercury Sable on March 30, 2023, less than two weeks before the murder, when Alhakim and Jean went together to buy it at a shop on 61st Street in Philadelphia. The vehicle was purchased in Julie Jean’s name. (Jackson, 2023)
