I recently re-read (listened to) The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz on Audible because I needed a life and mind shift. The book has really helped me cope with some big and complicated challenges and I’m going to share some of my insights to hopefully help someone else.

The Four Agreements gives you four principles to empower you and enhance your quality of life through positive thinking.

The Four Agreements are:

1. Be impeccable with your word
2. Don’t take anything personally
3. Don’t make assumptions
4. Always do your best
(Ruiz, 2001)

They seem really simple and easy to say — but they are proving to be huge mind shifts when applied to personal and professional relationships.

#1 Being Impeccable with your word
For me this is more about my internal monologue, integrity and keeping my commitments.
