I’m a foodie and love cooking. However, lately I don’t have the time, or energy to research and try new restaurants so — I have to satisfy my cravings at home.

Recently, I had a serious craving for beef birria. Interestingly the first time I had it was not at one of the many amazing Mexican restaurants in Philly. I tasted beef birria when I ordered Chef Santiago Lopez’s Birria Quesadillas from Cook Unity. I was hooked, but couldn’t continue my subscription. See my review below:

Needless to say, I was excited to see Trader Joes had frozen beef birria. I tried it and liked it. They were very generous with the spicy sauce, but a little skimpy with the meat. It made two quesadillas that I paired with accidental tasty combo of black beans and lentils that turned into two meals. (The lentils were intended to replace rice- smh).
