I Tried CookUnity to Taste Chef Jose Garces Food Again

I recently reviewed CookUnity but I didn’t share how I discovered the food delivery service. I saw an ad with local Iron Chef, and James Beard Award-winning restaurateur, Jose Garces, and I had to try it since I can no longer visit my beloved Distrito in University City (West Philly). Distrito was one of my favorite restaurants, but it closed two years ago.

I have so many fond memories of visiting Distrito with family and friends over the years. My son tasted real guacamole for the first time there and Distrito introduced me to fish tacos on soft tortillas. Everything was always fresh and the service was great. I loved the beautiful and eclectic décor and seats — one of the coveted spots was the car in the front of the restaurant.

I was always impressed by the illusion of simplicity in the menu. I often ordered the same thing: fresh guacamole and chips, fish tacos — and seasonal Sangria. I left every lunch and dinner amazed by the depth and complexity of flavors infused in each small plate and beverage.
